This product was designed by “morningstrummer” on the Rebrickable website and faithfully recreates the Big Boy steam locomotive, which is historically the largest, most powerful, and highest-wheeled steam locomotive ever built. It is the world’s only steam locomotive with a 4-8-8-4 wheel arrangement. The locomotive features two sets of driving wheels arranged at the front and rear, each consisting of four axles with eight driving wheels, plus two axles with four non-driving guide wheels or trailing wheels. Both sets of driving wheels have independent pistons and crank-connecting rod mechanisms.
