Product Background:
1. This original design is created and licensed by bru_bri_mocs.
The B2707-200 TWA MOC model kit is a faithful recreation of the famous American supersonic airliner concept. It features rich detailing, accurate scaling, and high playability.
2. Prototype Story: The Boeing 2707 was the flagship project of the U.S. Supersonic Transport (SST) program in the 1960s. Officially launched by President Kennedy in 1963, the project aimed to surpass the Concorde and the Tu-144 with a design that was larger, faster, and more ambitious. In 1967, Boeing won the FAA contract, beating out the Lockheed L-2000 with a proposal capable of carrying 300 passengers at Mach 2.7; three variants were subsequently introduced: the 2707-100, 2707-200, and 2707-300. However, the variable-sweep wing configuration presented severe technical challenges—the titanium wing pivot mechanism alone weighed 4,600 pounds, and the design failed to meet airline requirements for transatlantic range—leading Boeing to abandon the variable-geometry wing design in October 1968. In 1971, Congress cut and eventually eliminated funding for the project; despite 25 airlines having placed orders for 115 aircraft, not a single prototype ever flew. The project's cancellation cost Boeing over 60,000 jobs, earning the SST the nickname "the plane that almost ate Seattle."

1. This MOC is a 1:80 scale model of the Boeing 2707-200 featuring the TWA livery. It combines classic bricks, plates, and tiles with extensive use of Technic parts and gears in its design. The model faithfully reproduces the shape of the original Boeing 2707-200; I obtained copies of the original blueprints, scanned them, and used them as a reference throughout the design process. Beyond its accurate appearance, the model fully replicates all the moving parts of the real aircraft: retractable landing gear, a droop nose, and swing wings.
2. These functions are driven by a hand crank connected to an internal gear mechanism. Turning the crank triggers the "magic": the nose drops, the wings extend outward, and the landing gear deploys, shifting the plane into landing configuration. Turning the crank in the opposite direction retracts the wings, raises the nose, and retracts the landing gear, returning the plane to its supersonic cruise state.
3. The model also features several manually adjustable moving parts, including leading-edge flaps, wing flaps, tail elevators, and the rudder.
4. The MOC set includes a display stand; the aircraft must be placed on the stand for the moving parts to operate correctly. A sticker sheet and assembly instructions are also included.
