The infantry fighting vehicle is a fourth-generation LAV based on the LAV III. The first batch of vehicles was delivered in 2013 and entered service in 2016 following testing. The Canadian Army plans to replace its entire fleet of various LAV II and LAV III variants. The vehicle has two main variants: one equipped with the 25mm cannon found on the LAV II and LAV III, and a support variant designated as the Armored Combat Support Vehicle (ACSV).
